On the early days, based on personal interview, the place was just like a forest covered with untouched trees and thick bushes. But then, time came that there were some people who discovered the place and started to develop until it was named Sandugan. It was also said that early before the place was named Sandugan, various kind of fishes and other marine lives can be caught along the seas of the barangay. In other words, the coastal area of the place was said to be  “sanduganan’’. This is the legend and finally then it was named ‘’Sandugan’’ as per P.D. 557/-09/21/74 and the date of Ratification/ Plebiscite is manifested per R.A. No. 3490-06/22/63.

Today, Barangay Sandugan contributes to the municipality’s socio-economic activities, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Larena.
